Fotografy Education- A new part of the Mayan Arts Program (MAP)
The goal of the photography education project is to cultivate the women’s ability to express themselves through photography and increase their self-confidence, their self-knowledge, and sense of self worth. We designed the class discussions and photo assignments to teach the women to see their world more deeply and artistically, and to become more comfortable expressing themselves in the group.

We challenge them to present their photos to the group, and identify positive and negative qualities in their photos, followed by comments from the group about each woman’s photos. We as facilitators then add comments and questions to prompt further discussion on topics important to the week’s assignment.
